When I joined the Hornets digital team in the summer of 2019, the team had just traded their franchise player, Kemba Walker.
The challenge: turn a moment of uncertainty in Buzz City into a time of hope, opportunity and fun for the millions of fans that love the purple and teal.
Challenge accepted.
With a focus on developing a cohesive, platform-specific social strategy, integrating paid social in an intentional way, and showcasing our young, exciting players’ personalities (on-and-off the court), our team continues to accomplish this goal.
Since I’ve joined and led the social media team, we’ve seen a 54% increase in total social followers with significant growth on Instagram (87%), Twitter (22%), LinkedIn (80%), YouTube (512%), Snapchat (816%) & TikTok. Additionally, our overall social media engagement has increased by 268%.
